Halloween is a time for fun. It is a time to dress up, carve pumpkins, visit orchards and farms, and say, “Trick or Treat?” It is also a wonderful time to do some crafting. So, make a space either indoors or out, gather your kids, and create one (or all) of the following crafts. Soon after, your home will be filled with Halloween decorations that were crafted with love!

Pasta Skeletons

All you need for this fun craft is black paper, different types of dry pasta, a white crayon and an adhesive like white glue. You will use the different types of pasta to create your skeleton. Whether you choose to create a full skeleton, just an arm, just a leg or just a skull, this craft can be a wonderful learning opportunity as well an art project. Take your time and help your kids learn the names of the bones that they are emulating on the paper. When they are done, they can write their name, label the bones, or write a message on the black paper with the white crayon! Easy!

Egg Carton Spider

For this craft, all you will need is a cardboard egg carton, black paint, red paint (or paint pen), 2 googly eyes, 4 black pipe cleaners, glue, a paint brush and a hole punch or scissors. You will begin by cutting a cup out of the egg carton (one per spider). Trim it so it sits flat. Next, paint the egg cup black. After it is dry, use a hole punch or scissors to cut four holes in each side of the cup (for a total of 8 holes). Then, thread the four pipe cleaners through the holes – from one side to the other. These are the legs. Feel free to trim them if they are too long. Then, bend the legs so they look like spider legs. After, glue on the googly eyes and use the red paint to paint on a smile!  If you are feeling extra spooky, put a hole in the top of the egg cup, attach a string and hang your spooky spider from your ceiling!

Footprint Ghost

This one is super easy! All you need is construction paper, googly eyes, crayons, glue and scissors. First, trace your child’s foot on a piece of construction paper. This will be your ghost! Then, cut out the traced shape – adding arms to the sides of the shape if you would like. Then, use the crayons to make your face and add any decorations. Then, add the googly eyes. If you would like to stop here and place these little ghosts around your house, feel free. Otherwise, take your glue and glue your ghosts onto a piece of construction paper to create a ghostly scene!
