The Animal Mitten Tree project at Cardinal Middle School was a big success this year. Food Service Director Janis Benton coordinated the event, asking students to bring in items for pets at the Geauga Humane Society’s Rescue Village. For every item students brought in, their name was entered into a drawing for a pizza party for them and three of their friends. Sixth grader Alyssa L. was the winner. She and her friends enjoyed a special pizza party December 21st. Thank you to everyone who donated items for the Rescue Village – the animals appreciate your generosity!

Kindergarten Classes Use Gingerbread to Help with Reading

A tasty way to finish up a reading lesson for Kindergarten students in Mrs. Courtney Dyer’s class! Students have been reading different versions of gingerbread man stories and are then discussing similarities, differences, characters, settings, problems, and solutions from each story. The class wrapped up their lesson by making their own gingerbread men! Parents donated items to help decorate the cookies. Students each created their own master pieces and then took a vote as to which part of the gingerbread man to eat first! Mrs. Dyer says the students had a lot of fun and did a great job with the lesson and the decorating!

Mobile Dentist Coming to Jordak Elementary School January 10th & 11th

Cardinal Schools are once again partnering with Ohio Dental Outreach to offer in-school dental care. A state licensed dentist will be on site at Jordak Elementary on Wednesday, January 10th and Thursday, January 11th to provide a cleaning, x-rays as necessary, fluoride treatment and apply sealants, as needed.

Additional care, such as fillings, may also be provided. A dental report card will be sent home with your child. Information was sent home with students prior to winter break about the program and scheduling an appointment. Parents can also learn more and schedule an appointment time online at My School Dentist.
