Annual Spring Drive-it-Yourself Tour Keeping the “Green” in Geauga County
Geauga County Tourism’s Annual Spring Drive-it-Yourself Tour event date is Saturday, May 5. This is a County tradition that heralds the beginning of spring as a celebration of National Tourism Week. The tour will offer 25 participating locations and you choose ten stops that appeal to you. Each stop will be featuring special activities, give-aways, sales, samples, or demonstrations to tour participants. You can choose locations you have never visited, or your favorites for sales and unique activities. This year’s tour features a “Keeping the ‘Green’ in Geauga County” theme to remind everyone the importance of Shopping and Buying Local. “It’s also a perfect fit to recognize this year’s Tour co-sponsors, Geauga County Farm Bureau and Western Reserve Farm Cooperative,” says Lynda Nemeth, Geauga County Tourism Director.
“We have an outstanding line-up of stops this year, with 11 of them being brand new!” says Nemeth. “This Tour gets rave reviews, and many people return each year, so we need to offer new stops as well as returning favorites.”
Participating locations are offering everything from free chocolate to free herbs, a chance to try ballroom dancing, and a chance to tour a dairy farm; definitely something for everyone. The event will run from 10am to 4pm with a finale celebration at Middlefield Market Pavilion (indoors.) The building will open at 3:00pm with vendors, entertainment, snacks, a silent/Chinese auction, and prize drawings that begin at 4:00pm. To be eligible for the prize drawings, you must visit at least ten stops, have your map stamped at each location, and turn it in at the finale by 4:00pm. Prizes and auction items will be baskets and gift certificates from area businesses.
