Newton’s Laws of Motion are put to the test in Mr. Sherman’s 8th grade science class at Cardinal Middle School. Students recently studied the three laws of motion and then applied what they learned in a classroom experiment.
Using the three laws and all of the vocabulary discussed in the class lesson, students had to construct roller coasters. “It always helps students understand a concept when you can take something they’ve learned in a book and apply it in a real setting,” says Mr. Sherman.
“The experiment gave them a better sense of Newton’s Laws and how they work. Plus, they had a lot of fun constructing the roller coasters – they came up with some pretty creative ways to apply the laws and all of the vocabulary.”
