Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) has partnered with nonprofit organizations and schools in northeast Ohio to provide THE POLAR EXPRESS train ride experience for underserved children and families.

CVSR will host THE POLAR EXPRESS, presented by Countertop Solutions, for underserved families in Northeast Ohio on December 8th at 10:00 a.m. The annual POLAR EXPRESS ‘Charity Train’ ride enables more than 1,100 children and families to experience the magic of the holiday season aboard a trip to the North Pole, free of cost.

Each year, CVSR partners with local schools, nonprofits and other organizations, to distribute tickets to families in their network. THE POLAR EXPRESS charity program is a small way for CVSR to give back to the community and enable children and families in need the chance to experience the popular Christmas train ride.

“We’re very thankful that we have this opportunity to give back to the community, and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of our sponsors,” said President & CEO Joe Mazur. “THE POLAR EXPRESS is an incredible experience for families, and we want everyone to experience the magic. This train ride is about more than a trip to the North Pole; it’s about sharing the Christmas spirit.”

THE POLAR EXPRESS ‘Charity Train’ is made possible by generous gifts from the KeyBank Foundation, County of Summit, Executive’s office of Department of Community and Economic Development, and SeibertKeck Insurance.

CVSR has given tickets to the following schools and organizations to distribute: Nolley Elementary, Coventry Elementary, Woodridge Elementary, The Bair Foundation, SeibertKeck Insurance, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Mahoning Valley, Akron Children’s Hospital, Spring Hill Elementary, Springfield Sparkles, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Summit, Medina, & Stark Counties, Norton Elementary School, A Kid Again, Boys and Girls Club, A Special Wish Foundation, Northeast Ohio Adoption Services, Flashes of Hope, Department of Child & Family Services, Project Rise, National Youth Advocate Program, Autism Society of Greater Akron, Cleveland Christian Home and ICAN.

Tickets have already been distributed for the 2018 ‘Charity Train’. Volunteer positions are available for the 2018 POLAR EXPRESS ‘Charity Train’ on board the train or at the North Pole. Visit Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad/Become-a-Volunteer for more information.
