It’s not uncommon to venture out on a warm summer evening in Northeast Ohio and count upwards of six to eight species of lightning bugs easily identified by their different colored lights, flash patterns and distance from the ground.

Learn this good-natured summer skill from naturalists Tami Gingrich and Linda Gilbert during Geauga Park District’s Firefly Frolic on Friday, June 30th, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Swine Creek Reservation.

This program begins with a short indoor presentation on the natural history of these unique insects followed by a leisurely stroll through the park in search of different species.

Nets will be provided so we can all enjoy up-close looks at these bio-luminescent insects. Don’t miss this nostalgic Nature’s Not to Be Missed summertime fun – no registration required!
