Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club Recognized at the Geauga County 4-H Member & Volunteer Recognition Ceremony

The Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H club recently attended the Geauga County 4-H Member & Volunteer Recognition ceremony, which was held on November 3rd at St. Mary’s Parish in Chardon. Some of the members along with the advisors received awards for their contributions to the club during the 2018 4-H season.

Seven club members participated in the Ohio State Fair. These members include Corrin Hamby, Maggie Eibler(two projects), Katherine Baumgartner, Rebecca Zallar (two projects), Grace Reed, Hannah Rose Thompson, and Jacob Thompson. These members were recognized at the event. Other awards that were awarded to the members in the club were the Outstanding Cloverbud award, which was awarded to Caroline Hamby and Rebecca Turpin, and the outstanding 4-H members, which was awarded to Katherine Baumgartner, Olivia Hall, Rebecca Zallar, and Autumn Hamby.

Members were also recognized for the Jr. Gold Medal, which was awarded to Rebecca Zallar for clothing, and the Sr. Gold Award, which was awarded to Katherine Baumgartner for clothing. These specific members were awarded due to their great achievements in their specific categories. Members in the club were also recognized for having the best treasurer book, Olivia Hall, and for being on the Youth Fashion Board, and those members include Elizabeth Cooper, Autumn Hamby, and Corrin Hamby.

The club as a whole also received some awards. These included the Honor Club award, Family-A-Fair participation the 4-H showcase participation , and the community service award. These awards recognize Giggles ‘n Stitches for going above and beyond to be involved and helpful within their community.

The advisors of the club also received recognition. Lisa Hernandez, Laura Hamby, and Graycen Wood were all recognized as One-Year Volunteer and Julia Wood was recognized for being a Nine-Year Volunteer. Julia Wood was also recognized as the president of the 2018 4-H Advisory Committee. The club will end the 4-H year with a club holiday party in December.
