Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club Recognized

Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Sewing Club recently attended the Geauga County 4-H Member and Volunteer Recognition Banquet at Notre Dame Educational Center. The club members and advisors received awards and recognition for their hard work in the 2017 4-H season.

Nine club members – Hannah Cooper, Maggie Eibler, Autumn Hamby, Caitlin Pastor, Katherine Penzenik, Sofia Salvini, Morgan Spehar, Samantha Sunderhaft, and Rebecca Zallar; were recognized for qualifying and participating in the 2017 Ohio State Fair. Club members Katherine Baumgartner, Olivia Hall, Autumn Hamby, and Rebecca Zallar were awarded Outstanding 4-H Member for their hard work and contributions to the club. Katherine Baumgartner was awarded Senior Gold Medal for leadership. She was recognized because of her outstanding effort, personal increase of knowledge and skill, and her achievements. Sarah Ward was recognized for her participation in the Youth Fashion Board.

The club received the Honor Club award. Giggles ‘n Stitches also received the Community Service Award for their dedicated service to Geauga County including a clothing drive, the Family-A-Fair gift, creating blankets for Geauga County Veterans, and Auburn Township’s 200th Anniversary Ice Cream Social.

Advisors Beth Ward and Julia Wood were awarded for the eight years as 4-H volunteers. The club is very grateful for their dedication and leadership. Giggles ‘n Stitches will end the 2017 4-H season with a club Holiday party in December. The club will meet again in February 2018, to elect officers.
