On Sunday, Nov. 11, Protect Geauga Parks hosted a gala reception at the Munson Township Hall to honor Heroes of Conservation’s Charles “Chip” Henry, Joseph and Betty Koelliker, and Robert McCullough.

Each Hero or their family was presented with a Certificate honoring their foresight, sacrifice and hard work contributing to conservation in Geauga County, a scholarship in their name to the Chip Henry Institute for Kids, and a commemorative book containing original poetry, essays and photography.

Presenting the awards were Todd Ray of Munson Township, John Augustine of Parkman Township and Jim Bissell of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Live music for the event was provided by Doug Wood and Cellocentric. Original poetry was written and recited by Bob Coughlan of Chardon for the event. Young writers, Michael Dielman, Nina Zagari and Maddie Massey contributed their award winning essays on conservation to the commemorative book. Michael Dielman and Nina Zagari read their work to an attentive and appreciative audience.

Over 110 people attended the reception and enjoyed bountiful and delicious hors d’oeuvres, desserts and beverages provided, in part, by The Reserve House Catering.

All leftover food was delivered to the County Home by PGP members.
