It was Applesauce Day at Park Kindergarten recently, which was a fun and delicious way to wrap up their learning unit on apples. Over the last few weeks the students taste tested different apple varieties and graphed their favorites, they read about apples, engaged in apple arts and crafts, and worked on various apple science and math activities.
Fall parent/teacher conferences are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, October 24th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., and on Monday, October 29th and on Thursday, November 8th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Teachers will hold individual conferences with interested parents, discussing their specific class. This is a change from past practices at both the elementary schools and middle school, but one that teachers felt allowed them to focus their conversations about how they are personally working with your students in their classrooms. Parents are welcome to sign-up for conferences with any or all of your child’s teachers. There are enough conference slots for all 4th and 5th grade teachers, which is not the case for 6th and 7th grade teachers as they do see more students throughout their day. For any grade level, however, if you have already met with or have established lines of communication with your child’s teachers, a parent may decide that this conference is not necessary.
If your child needs to take medication during the school day, you must complete the “medication administration” forms found online. Go to Chardon Local School District then forms/links then health and wellness. No medication can be given until the proper forms (and medication) are received. Please note that medication must be be delivered by a parent or guardian. If you have any questions please call your child’s school office and ask to speak to the school nurse.
