Knots in Chardon – Meet Your Merchant

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word knots?

Tangles of rope? Ship speed? A really bad hair day? All true enough definitions for sure. But to the knitter in the Chardon area, Knots means nothing other than Knitting on the Square! Owned by Kate Jackson, the shop carries a large selection of fine quality yarns along with patterns, needles, and books, including Kate’s recently released Kate Jackson Knits. They also offer classes for all levels – beginner through advanced. If you check out the shop on Saturday mornings, it’s very likely you will encounter a group of fellow crafters sitting in the ‘living room’ of the shop chatting away as they carry on with their own project. These Knitting Workshops are offered every Saturday morning from 10 to 12. Bring your current project, knit alongside others, and ask any questions you may have for free help and advice. No matter what the project – your first ever or your hundredth – Kate is there to guide you. No need to pre-register for this class – just pop in!

“I [love] Kate and Laura and it is my new favorite area store. I will drive a few more miles to enjoy my yarn experience in a nice comfortable, open environment. If you do not find something you love and “must have” in her stock, you are out of your mind! I cannot wait to sit and knit more with these ladies and the other wonderful customers. By far my favorite stop along the Yarn Tour!”  by freespirit  9/10/12

You are also welcome to come into the shop to sit and knit anytime, make your own group, or come to one of their established groups held on Tuesdays 10 to 4, Wednesdays 10 to 4, or Fridays 5 to 8. Kate also offers private lessons for those who want some extra attention. Class offerings are always changing. Recent offerings included Slipper Saturday, Rambling Cables Hat and Mitts, and Crochet Basket. (Yes! They DO offer crochet options, too!) Call for new classes or click HERE and sign up for the newsletter.

And how about this – you started that beautiful knitted cable sweater for Aunt Rosie 10 years ago and – yep – it’s still sitting there in the bag! Take it to Knots! Their finishing service will seam, block, or otherwise finish your knitting. Take in your piece and they will quote a price for finishing in the shop. Then walk out the door and start another project! They will also custom-knit full projects to order as well.

If you have any knitter or crocheter on your gift list this Christmas, Knitting on the Square is the place to shop!
