Want to see new things in Nature? Let a Geauga Park District naturalist be your guide as you stretch your wings to some new spots outside Geauga County parks, all official Nature’s-Not-to-Be-Missed opportunities.

Registration is required at 440-286-9516 or Geauga Park District for any of the following expeditions. They typically fill up fast, so you won’t want to delay getting on the lists.

Lake Erie Winter Van Trip

Saturday, January 20th, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., The West Woods

Ice formations, snow and hardy winter birds – let’s explore the frozen shores of beautiful Lake Erie! Locations will be determined by what’s going on that week along the shores, but could include Mentor Headlands, Edgewater Park and Neff Road Park. Participants should be able to hike several miles and be dressed and prepared for cold and strong wings. Please bring a snack and water.

Winter Hawk Watch Van Trip

Saturday, February 3rd, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  or 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Swine Creek Reservation

Take a birding adventure into Amish farmland for raptors including Rough-legged Hawks, Harriers and Kestrels, as well as Horned Larks, Snow Buntings, Lapland Longspurs and other winter birds of open country. Bring binoculars. Not wheelchair accessible.
