On Tuesday, April 24th, Notre Dame Elementary School students embarked on the annual 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C. Upon their arrival, the students visited the Iwo Jima Memorial and the Arlington Cemetery. At the Arlington Cemetery, Notre Dame Elementary School students witnessed the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The next day Notre Dame Elementary School toured many sites in our nation’s capital including the Lincoln Memorial, Pentagon, Korean and Vietnam Memorials. At the Capitol Building, students met with Representative David Joyce. On the final day, students toured the battlefields at Gettysburg and visited the Flight 93 Memorial where they honored and remembered all the heroes of that fateful day with a prayer service along with a wreath and signed Notre Dame Elementary School Class of 2018 shirt before returning home.
We are so blessed to live in a country that values life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A special thank you to all our parents who volunteered as chaperones for this memorable trip. God Bless America!
