Observatory Park Grand Opening is Saturday June 16
An evening for the whole family is lined up at Geauga Park District’s internally recognized Observatory Park in Montville Township. Last year we dedicated the Observatory and this year we celebrate its completion! Prepare yourself for tours of the trail, complete with characters showing the way. There will be many other family activities and, with clear skies, evening stargazing with the Chagrin Valley Astronomical Society and its telescopes. Guests with limited mobility will tour the grounds in the Park District’s EZ Go Cart available for short six-person rides.
Those who attended the dedication last August know Observatory Park’s plaza is a prime place for live music, and this year’s celebration will feature another round of the same. Fronted by Bennie Jackson and Gwen Mainelis, ContraBAND’s distinctive vocals will get you off your feet and smiling with songs covering several decades up to the current popular hits. The band’s strong groove, smooth vocals, and recognizable sounds are well worth the trip out to Montville.
The evening’s schedule is as follows:
- 7 to 8 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies
- 8 to 10:30 p.m. – Family Activities
- 9 to 10 p.m. – ContraBAND in Concert
- 10:30 p.m. to Midnight – Stargazing
Observatory Park is located at 10610 Clay Street, Montville Township. Registration is not required for this free event for all ages, which is fully wheelchair/stroller accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
