Strawberry Season Is Here!

…what will you make?

This is the season of the year when many will be out in the country fields picking luscious, ruby red strawberries. This delicious fruit is perfect for serving on pancakes, atop strawberry shortcakes and white cake, making jams and jellies, or being used in special strawberry desserts.

When it comes to recipes that call for strawberry jello, I suggest that you try using Junket Danish Dessert if you are not doing so already. This product is easy to use, sets perfectly, and it gives you a ruby red color that accents your strawberries.

Strawberry Danish DessertEnd of the Commons General Store in Mesopotamia is a great place to visit and pick up all your baking needs for over the summer. Right now, white sugar is on sale at .45 cents a pound and they are offering Junket Strawberry Danish Dessert for a low price of $1.19 a box. These offers are good until the end of June 2014.

While you are there, might I suggest you pick up all of the other essentials you might need for your dessert recipes like fillings, glazes, flour, spices and nuts. The End of the Commons is truly my one stop shopping adventure. Make it yours, too!

I want to share with you one very special recipe I received from my Amish friend Martha. I am passing this recipe on to all of you to share this summer with your loved ones. This recipe is perfect for any social gathering, picnics, or your family’s dinner dessert.

Once you use Junket, you will never go back to using jello again.

Strawberry Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup confectioner’s sugar
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 (8oz) package cream cheese
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 ½ cups sliced strawberries
  • ½ of a package, (2oz) of Strawberry Junket Danish Dessert mix
  • 1 cup water

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium sized bowl, mix together the flour and confectioner’s sugar.

Stir in the melted butter.

Press the mixture evenly onto a 12 inch pizza pan. (I like to use a cookie sheet when making mine). Bake this in your oven for 15 minutes. Let cool till needed.

In a small bowl, beat together with a mixer the cream cheese and sugar until it is a smooth consistency spread this mixture over your cooled crust.

Arrange strawberries over the top of the cream cheese layer. (Slicing the strawberries into thirds works great!)

Finally, combine the Junket Danish mix along with the water in a small saucepan. Bring it to boil stirring frequently. Boil and stir for 1 minute. You then pour this mixture over the top of your strawberry layer to complete your dessert.

Chill to set and keep chilled till served. Delicious!

Note: I like to double this recipe, one pizza is never enough!
