Superheroes and Summer Workshops at Geauga Theater!

Superheroes save the day at Geauga Lyric Theater during the Maple Festival!   Chardon Middle School Drama Club, sponsored by the GLTG, will present two free performances of Superheroes: How to Interact with Human Beings on Friday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m., and on Saturday, April 29th, at 1:00 p.m. Captain Invisible, Green Pen, Freeze Frame and Info Blast are having trouble getting along with the others so the International Society of Superheroes has sent them off to meet with some humans who will teach them valuable lessons in basic kindness and civility! Catchy tunes and enlightening lyrics make this mini-musical fun and educational for all ages.

Be sure to park at the GLTG Arts Center-parking donations will benefit both the Geauga Theater and The Chardon Community Action Team! In addition, The CMS Drama Club, run by Julie Douglass, will travel to four local elementary schools.  Performances will include a talk-back session with the cast to reinforce the messages within the show and cameo appearances by students who won an  essay contest on “What’s Your Super Power and How Do You Use It to Make the World a Better Place?”

Summer workshop registration is open and active! The Junior workshop (A Fairytale Adventure, ages 4-7) and the Intermediate workshop (Princess and the Pea, ages 12-16) will both be directed by Chloe Porter, who has grown up with the Guild and is now well into college. She returns on weekends to teach classes and work with her mom in the box office!  The Elementary Drama workshop (ages 7-12), is Aladdin, and will be directed by Jocelyn Laracuente. Jocelyn is new to our staff and a recent college graduate. She was seen on our stage as Audrey, the ditzy roller skater in Leading Ladies.  The Elementary Music workshop (ages 7-12), will be Clownin’ Around, A Circus Adventure. Run away to the circus with veteran GLTG instructor/actor Julie Douglass.

Register and pay online this year at Geauga Lyric Theater, where you can also find details and pricing. The historic Geauga Theater is located at 101 Water Street on the beautiful Chardon square. Tickets for our many shows can be purchased online or at the box office, 440-286-2255.
