Take a Walk on the Wild Side at a Geauga Park This Spring

Birdwatching

Now that April has arrived, it’s time to get outside and enjoy all that the spring season has to offer. The Geauga Park District has plenty of events and activities to help you and your family ‘walk on the wild side’ by getting outside.

Canoe with Spring Peepers

On Saturday April 11, from 7 – 8:30 p.m., you can float on glacial Lake Kelso to enjoy the Spring Peepers chorus. For safety, this program is for children aged 10 and up with an adult, and a basic canoeing proficiency is necessary. Phone registration is now open for this unique evening program.

Walk with the Birds

Take part in one of the Park District’s annual bird walks, held in April and May, and take part in a Greater Cleveland tradition since 1933. Don’t worry if you’re not a veteran birdwatcher, expert watchers will be on hand to assist with observation and identification. Walks will be held in any weather, thunderstorms or high winds, so dress appropriately. Don’t forget your binoculars and a bird guide!

See the Stars…During the Day

Find out what’s in the sky each week most Sundays at the Sky Tonight Planetarium Show at Observatory Park. Although the programs are held from 2 – 3 p.m., you’ll have the chance to learn what to watch for each night thanks to an awesome planetarium program. If the weather permits, you might even get a chance to view the sun using special solar viewing equipment.

There’s so much to see and do this spring at Geauga’s nearby parks. Visit Geauga Park District to find out how you and your kids can take a walk, or a hike, on the wild side.
