The Polar Express™ train ride, presented by Countertop Solutions, returns for its 25th year at Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) from November 10th – December 21st.

Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, passengers will relive the magic of the story as they are whisked away on The Polar Express™ to the North Pole. Once on board, hot chocolate and a cookie are served as passengers listen to the recording of the classic children’s book, The Polar Express, voiced by author Chris Van Allsburg. The wonder continues as the train pulls into a glistening North Pole village filled with caroling elves. Santa greets each passenger on board the train, where each child is given the first gift of Christmas—a silver sleigh bell. Chefs and servers aboard each car lead passengers in singing Christmas carols and a pajama parade on the way back to the station.

Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, October 3rd at 9:00 a.m. Tickets can be purchased via this link: https://public.whistletix.com/CVSR/Search/[PE].

The train departs from both Akron Northside and Rockside Station every day at 7:00 p.m. from November 10th — December 21st (excluding November 21st & 22nd due to Thanksgiving). The train ride lasts two hours. Merchandise is available to purchase at the stations prior to departure. CVSR recommends guests arrive an hour in advance of departure time to allow for parking, ticket check-in, and merchandise purchase.

There are a variety of ticket options including coach, suites, deluxe, executive, and first class. New this year: seating aboard our recently acquired California Zephyr train cars! Ticket options range in price from $45 to $97 per person. Pricing varies based on weekday or weekend evening. Children under the age of two do not need a ticket but must sit on a parent or guardian’s lap. More information about the train ride at CVSR – The Polar Express.

CVSR is seeking volunteers for The Polar Express™. Volunteers are needed to serve as chefs, servers, and Santa’s helpers at the North Pole. Training will be provided on October 1st and 2nd at 6:00 p.m. and on October 14th at 5:30 p.m. Interested volunteers may complete the online volunteer application at CVSR Become-a-Volunteer to receive further information.
