Waterfowl Wonderland

Enjoy views of migrating birds by scope and binoculars!

Water bird migration is underway, and early November is the prime time to see birds use inland waters as migratory stopovers to feed and rest.

Get guided views of awesome autumn wildlife using Geauga Park District’s spotting scopes during this popular annual program with Naturalist guide Dan Best.

What: Waterfowl on the Move
When: Sunday, November 16, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Where: LaDue Reservoir, 17759 Valley Road, Auburn Township
meet at the boathouse parking lot to join the carpool headed for the west side of the reservoir along Valley Road.

Naturalist Dan anticipates a variety of wildfowl, including dabbling and diving ducks, mergansers and (hopefully) tundra swans. Other anticipated diving water birds include common loons, horn– and pied-billed grebes, double-crested cormorants, and oodles of coots.

Program participants can also hope to catch prime views of our resident bald eagles––both adult and dark-colored immatures––plus more rare species of gull, duck, and grebe.

Bring your own binoculars and bird guides if you have them; we provide the scopes and official Geauga County bird checklists.

Registration is not required for this “Nature’s Not to Be Missed” program.
