Giggles ‘n Stitches 4-H Club, a group of about twenty girls who love to sew, had a fabulous day at the Geauga County Style Revue on July 16. This year, the girls submitted their garments, including everything from formal dresses to dance costumes to accessories to County Judging on July 16.
Sarah Ward received an Outstanding of the Day and qualified for State Fair in ‘Sew for Others’, Zhen Henrikson got Outstanding of the Day and advanced to State Fair in ‘Fun with Clothes, and Elizabeth Cooper was given Outstanding of the Day and was the alternate State Fair Qualifier in the same category. Amelia Dyck also took Outstanding of the Day in both of the categories she entered – ‘Dress Up Outfit: Day Wear’ and ‘Shopping Savvy’ – as well as State Fair qualifier in one and alternate State Fair qualifier in the other. She was also nominated for the Master Clothing Educator’s Award, Senior Category. Emily Walker qualified for State Fair and received an Outstanding of the Day in ‘Look Great For Less’ and Graycen Wood was given Outstanding of the Day and Alternate to State Fair in the same category. Graycen was also given Outstanding of the Day and State Fair qualification in ‘Active Sportswear.’
Susan Roberts was given Outstanding of the Day and advanced to State Fair in ‘Accesories for Teens.’ Maggie Eibler also won Outstanding of the Day and Alternate to State Fair in ‘Sew Fun,’ while Samantha Henrikson, Lillian Ostrander, and Madison Thomas each received Outstanding of the Day in the same category. In ‘Clothing for High School,’ Sheila Roberts won Outstanding of the Day and advanced to State Fair, while Caroline Walker took Outstanding of the Day and Alternate to State Fair. Sarah Miller was also awarded Outstanding of the Day and was the State Fair qualifier in ‘Outer Layers.’ Katherine Baumgartner was given an Outstanding of the Day and qualified for State Fair in ‘Tops for Tweens.’
The girls are thrilled with how well they did; more than half the club advanced to the Ohio State Fair, where, on August 1, Sarah Miller won Outstanding of the Day. The members of Giggles ‘n Stitches are looking forward to the Geauga County Fair where all of their projects will be displayed in the Jr. Fair Building. Members will also participate in a Style Show on Saturday, August 31, at 2:00 p.m. in the Jr. Fair Building.
