Busy Day At Observatory Park

Celebrate June’s full moon on 2016’s longest day

It never rains, but it pours…

June’s full moon also falls on the longest day of the year! And to celebrate, Observatory Park will be crawling with explorations of solar energy up until sunset on this day: folks can toast marshmallows with the sun’s energy, track its motion across the sky, try out a sundial and experiment with solar electricity.

What: Solar Day and Solstice Sunset

When: Monday, June 20 – 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Observatory Park, 10610 Clay Street, Montville Twp.

After the latest sunset of 2016, please stick around for the rise of the full “Strawberry Moon,” which we’ll then observe with park telescopes. All activities will be wheelchair/stroller accessible, and registration is not required – just show up! We look forward to seeing you in the park.
