Caring for Your Geriatric Pet Workshop to be Conducted at Cold Nose Companions

Cold Nose Companions Dog Training is bringing veterinarian Dr. Linda Mitchell to speak to pet owners and professionals on providing proactive and responsive care for their geriatric dogs and cats.

Dogs and cats, like humans, are living longer lives. Medical advancements that help us live longer can also make those golden years more comfortable. It is vital for guardians to understand how to help pets enjoy healthy long lives through proactive measures, as well as to work with their veterinarian when ailments arise.

Linda Mitchell, DVM is passionate about giving geriatric pets the best care possible. In this workshop, she will review:

  • What the physical needs are of aging dogs and cats
  • What guardians can do to avoid or delay the onset of age-related ailments, such as arthritis
  • How to work with veterinarians to identify early indications of ailments, and what to do
  • An overview of current available treatment options for the ailments geriatric pets are most likely to suffer from

Dr. Mitchell graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, fulfilling a lifelong dream that started when she was 5 years old. She graduated from Lordstown High School and earned her BA from Hiram College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. After graduating from The Ohio State University, she worked in a local vet hospital for 4 years. In September 2002, Dr. Mitchell started Rainbow Mobile Vet Clinic. After 2 years of mobile practice she expanded to the stationary clinic in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She has practiced veterinary medicine for 18 years.
