To make parents’ jobs easier, the Geauga Park District is putting on lots of programming to show kids just how incredible (and fun) Nature can be. Following is a complete list of this winter’s programs and events directly geared for kids!

Astrotots: Planet Pals! (Ages 3-5 w/adult)
Thursday, January 11th, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., The West Woods, Nature Center – Come meet eight great planets! Discover where our planet pals are positioned as we explore the night sky inside our inflatable planetarium – sure to be an out-of-this-world adventure, far-out and fun! Also January 13th. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.

Sunday, January 21st, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Sunnybrook Preserve, Lodge – Join Nora the Explorer in a search for feathered friends and make something to attract them to your yard. Also January 23rd. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.

Scout Day: Wolf Cub Scout Paws on the Path
Saturday, January 27th, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Observatory Park – Join us to work on the Paws on the Path Core Adventure! We’ll work on requirements 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and take an outdoor winter hike to observe seasonal Nature. Not wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.
Scout Day: Cadette Girl Scouts Night Owl Badge
Saturday, January 27th, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Observatory Park – Uncover mysteries of the world after dark, exploring the night sky to work on the Night Owl Badge! All badge requirements will be covered during the program. Partially wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.
Frozen Fest
Sunday, January 28th, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., The West Woods – Join Geauga Park District for an exciting afternoon of FREE winter fun! Visit for a complete schedule to include live reindeer; guest appearances by ice princesses, a popular reindeer herder and a winter snowman; snowshoeing; live ice carving and sculptures; snow-themed crafts; face painting; refreshments and much more! No doubt this event will help you enjoy and embrace winter weather and fun in Geauga County. Wheelchair/stroller accessible.
Homeschool Days: Amazing Mammals (Ages 5-8 & 9-12)
Friday, February 9th, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., The West Woods, Nature Center – Homeschoolers are introduced to the diversity of Geauga mammals and their adaptations by sight, sound and sign. Adults may attend (need not register) or drop children off with waivers. Indoor program followed by outdoor exploration for mammal signs, so dress for the weather. Wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.
Scout Day: Bear Cub Scouts Fur, Feathers & Ferns Core Adventure
Saturday, February 10th, 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m., Observatory Park – Join us to work on the Fur, Feathers & Ferns Core Adventure. We’ll work on requirements 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 exploring Observatory Park. Dress for the weather. Not wheelchair/stroller accessible. Registration required.
Scout Day: Senior & Ambassador Girl Scouts Astronomy Night
Saturday, February 10th, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Observatory Park – Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts, join us at Observatory Park for a special Astronomy Night! We’ll explore the night sky, investigate space, and learn stories of constellations. All requirements for the Senior Sky Badge will be covered. Dress for the weather.
