The community is invited to attend the first ever Independent and Locally Owned Business Rally Saturday, August 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Maple Leaf Plaza in Chardon.
The family friendly event will feature free t-shirts, bands, a bounce house, games, booths, free servings of FroYo Twist Frozen Yogurt and a food truck. The free celebration will culminate with a dance for all ages.
The rally is the brainchild of Party Loft owner Tami Eggleston who is passionate about supporting local business.
“Every day we hear of another corporation either cutting their workforce, closing locations or filing for protection. Many of these businesses are citing Amazon and/or on-line/internet sales as the beginning of the end,” she said. “These on-line providers are not here to build our communities or to build our schools. They do not have a vested interest in Geauga County. What we want to do is to make it personal – show the residents that behind these business names are people who have made sacrifices to be here for them.”
