Scout Out the Summer

pick up a Scout Out Your Parks tracker and get started!

Summertime offers infinite reasons to head outdoors for your fun – and here are a few more:

~ Use your shadow to tell the time on Observatory Park’s human sundial.
~ Sit with a special companion and listen for 10 audible “Voices of Nature” at The West Woods.
~ Photograph the picturesque sights at Headwaters Park.
~ Then watch the sunset paint the sky over the lake at Walter C. Best Wildlife Preserve.

Headwaters

These priceless pleasures, and more, are all part of Geauga Park District’s free, unique “Scout Out Your Parks” program. Each season, Geauga Park District provides a list (or tracker) of fun and engaging things to do and see at four specially selected parks. The large menu of options is extremely broad, and the course you choose to “scout out” is entirely up to you. Once you’ve visited all four featured parks and completed three activities at each park, you can return your tracker to collect your exclusive “Scout Out Your Parks” patch!

The program’s first year celebrated The Boy Scouts of America’s 100th anniversary; this year, its third, celebrates The Girl Scouts of America’s 100th anniversary.

To get started, simply download a summer “Scout Out Your Parks” tracker, or pick one up at The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township or the Donald W. Meyer Center at Big Creek Park, 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon.

Call 440-286-9516 with any questions about getting started.

Geauga Park District is online, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
