With the recent cuts in food stamps we may have area food banks facing an even bigger challenge with feeding the hungry, bigger than they have seen in many of our previous years. Living in a community with more resources can be a mixed blessing. We can do more to help those in need, but it will take a lot of hard work by everyone to accomplish the tasks ahead.
The Cleveland food bank has had to take funding away from Geauga County to give to other areas that are hit even harder with hunger needs. Our food bank funding alone has been cut by 90%. But because of the past 23 years of creating a strong program, raising money through the talented artists of this area has built a strong foundation. In return, because of this,we will be able to give service to our neighbors and reduce hunger right here in our area.
The Hunger Task Force cannot do this alone. Your support is urgently needed. Donate to a local food bank when you can, and support the Geauga Hunger Task Force with their upcoming Musical Benefit. Give what you can in a goodwill offering to help those who need it most.
