May Student-Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Ronnie Simpson and Christin Dornback our May Student-Athletes of the Month. Ronnie, a senior track athlete, had a great May. He won the CVC Valley 800m, 4×4 relay, and 4×8 relay, and also finished 2nd in the 4×1 relay. At districts, Simpson finished 5th in the 800 and 3rd in the 4×8. The 4×8 team would later go on to finish 6th at regionals.

Christin, a junior on the track team, won the CVC Valley and district 800m and finished 2nd at the regional. Dornback was also the anchor leg of the state qualifying 4×4 and 4×8 relay teams as well as the regional qualifying 4×2 relay team. She qualified for state in the 800, 4×4, and 4×8.

Honorable mention for the month of May was Peyton Neumore, a senior member of the softball team.

The Student-Athletes of the month are nominated by the coaches and voted on by the Berkshire administration, faculty, staff, and head coaches.

Berkshire Jr/Sr High School Teachers Invited to Martha Holden Jennings Foundation Educator Institute

MHJ-Teachers

The BHS team of Ms. Hannah Bomback (Social Studies), Mrs. Jill Jaskiewicz (Language Arts), and Ms. Kelly Timmons (Assistant Principal) have been invited to participate in the 5th Martha Holden Jennings Foundation’s Educator Institute, Teacher Effectiveness to the Nth Power: Moving from “Good to Great,” in the fall. This expense-free opportunity will focus on the intersection of solid curriculum, quality instruction, and sound assessment practices.

Our teachers are excited to gain from high quality job embedded professional development and will be honored as a “Jennings Institute Educator” at the conclusion of the last session. In addition, Mr. Rich Guthrie (Mathematics) has been invited to participate in the Jennings Summer Mathematics Institute at (grades 9-12) this July. Mr. Guthrie will integrate the common core into challenging learning experiences for our students. We are grateful for the support and learning opportunities that MJHF provides which enable us to improve upon our teaching practices and ultimately impact our students in positive ways.
