There are two major awards that a middle school is eligible to win, The National Blue Ribbon Award and the distinction of inclusion on the list of Ohio Schools to Watch.

Chagrin Falls Middle School won the National Blue Ribbon Award in 2010 and the school was notified that they have just been awarded the Ohio Schools to Watch designation.

After hosting a site visit on Jan. 28 from the state Ohio Schools to Watch committee, Chagrin Falls Middle School has been accepted as a member to the Ohio Schools to Watch initiative launched by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle-Grades Reform.  Schools must demonstrate four components at a high level that include: academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational arrangements.

There are only 18 schools on the list in Ohio and currently, the only middle schools in Cuyahoga County to receive this recognition include Mayfield Middle School and Beachwood Middle School.  “This designation confirms that the staff at Chagrin Falls Middle School is dedicated to providing students with the best education possible,” said Chagrin Falls Middle School Principal David Wessel.

Chagrin Falls Middle School will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on June 22.
