The Chardon Community Action Team (CCAT) is set for another year of education and activities for the youth of the Chardon area. The CCAT is a group of parents, concerned residents of the Chardon area, and government officials who work to reduce alcohol, drugs, and tobacco use by the youth in the Chardon Community.
The group has also begun work to plan for the 15th Annual Car and Motorcycle show, which will be held August 10 on the beautiful Historic Chardon Square. Coming off a great year in 2013 of over 100 car and motorcycle entries, this year will be an even bigger fun family event.
Thanks to the successful Car and Motorcycle show in August, the group is proud to be able to offer scholarships to one or more students graduating from Chardon High School. The scholarships will be awarded based on the applicant’s efforts to live an alcohol, drug, and tobacco free life. All students are encouraged to apply for the scholarships in May.
The group plans a variety of activities throughout the year emphasizing the importance of living a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free life. This year’s activities will include Alcohol Awareness Month in April, pool parties at the Chardon Municipal Pool in June/July, a Youth Jam Fest in June, an Annual Car and Motorcycle Show on August 10, observation of Family Day in September, and activities for Red Ribbon Week in October. Each event/activity will be open to the public.
“I always enjoy starting a New Year with new energy from people who care about our important mission of living a drug free life,” said Vice President Lynn Kempf. “I am excited for the New Year of exciting programs and activities.”
Throughout the year, the group will also be sponsoring all drug free activities for the youth and their families. To find out more about CCAT’s very important mission or more about one of our many events, please visit the group’s website. We encourage anyone with an interest in our mission to attend one of our monthly meetings held on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Chardon Municipal Center, which is located at 111 Water Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024.
