SUMMARY:Astrotots: Constellation Celebration
DESCRIPTION:A fan-favorite part of Geauga Park District’s Astrotots programming is the planetarium show\, presented by volunteer-naturalist extraordinaire Jann Glove\, to explore that season’s constellations. So it’s worth noting that this year’s wintertime Astrotots is entirely focused on those magical creatures that hang in the night sky! \n  \nRegistration is required at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516 to attend Astrotots: Constellation Celebration either Friday\, February 4\, or Saturday\, February 5\, within Observatory Park’s Robert McCullough Science Center. There\, kids will get a chance to look at Leo the Lion and Cygnus the Swan through their own simple make-and-take telescopes. Commander Melvin can’t wait to learn and laugh with his friends! \n  \nAstrotots activities this season will be entirely indoors\, so face coverings are strongly recommended. Be sure to register all attending adults and siblings as well. Observatory Park is located at 10610 Clay Street in Montville. \n  \nFor more on Geauga Park District offerings\, please call 440-286-9516 or visit Geauga Park District online via www.geaugaparkdistrict.org\, Facebook\, Twitter\, Instagram or YouTube. \n\n

SUMMARY:ECLIPSE TIME - Prepare for our November 19 lunar eclipse\, then wake up early to see it!
DESCRIPTION:Ohio is due for some great eclipses in the near future\, starting with a near-total lunar eclipse on November 19.\nTaking place in the wee hours of a Friday\, this eclipse will be a rare spectacle\, lasting from 1 to 7 a.m. with the most dramatic part from 2 to 4 a.m. as the moon passes into darkness. If you’re up\, join Naturalist “Astro-Nat” Chris Mentrek anywhere from 2 to 4 a.m. to view the eclipse at Observatory Park. Registration is not required to stop by\, but viewing will be cancelled if cloudy. Or visit geaugaparkdistrict.org under News & Updates for some fun facts and self-guided-viewing advice courtesy of Astro-Nat Chris. \nWant to learn more about eclipses? Plan to also attend Astro-Nat Chris’ All About Eclipses program. Registration is open for two presentations\, both Fridays 7 to 8 p.m.: in-person on November 12\, followed by night sky viewing until 11 p.m.; or virtual via Zoom on November 26. Learn when and how to see them\, how past eclipses have influenced history\, and how to predict future eclipses. \nThe next lunar eclipse will occur May 15 and 16\, 2022. Whether it’s this month’s eclipse or one in the future\, prepare to be amazed by Mother Nature at night! \nFor more on Geauga Park District offerings\, please call 440-286-9516 or visit Geauga Park District online via www.geaugaparkdistrict.org\, Facebook\, Twitter\, Instagram or YouTube. \n\n
