For Immediate Release

The Geauga County Engineer today implemented several precautionary measures in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The Engineer is committed to public safety and health, and is doing everything necessary to continue operations in a logical and safe manner despite the health crisis. While there will be several minor changes to the Engineer’s daily operations, the Office will remain open and dedicated to serving the public.

The Engineer’s front office and parts room receiving locations are temporarily closed to the public until further notice. Only scheduled deliveries and mail services are permitted until further notice.

Additionally, no in-person meetings with non-GCE employees are permitted, including, but not limited to, employment interviews and business relating to permitting.

If a resident, contractor or other entity has a question regarding permits, procedures, employment or any other County Engineer business, they are encouraged to utilize the Engineer’s website or call by phone.

The Engineer is also internally emphasizing good personal hygiene and cleanliness, and social distancing. Because of this, group meetings have been postponed, and face-to-face contact limited to every possible extent.

Partial work staggering has begun for some personnel that allows them to stagger their work days, hours and locations, if needed.

The organization has taken steps to have an outside cleaning crew provide a thorough cleaning and sanitation spray to building surfaces in the near future, and is continually exploring other options to ensure the work environment is safe and healthy.

Employees of the Engineer are strongly encouraged to utilize sick leave is they are feeling sick, or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. If a staff member is experiencing symptoms at work, they will be sent home immediately.

The Engineer also put in place an emergency policy that requires any employee who misses work due to illness to have a note from a medical professional stating they are clear of infectious diseases before returning to work.

The Engineer will continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and make further adjustments as needed, as well as abide by any orders from the Geauga County Commissioners, Governor of the State of Ohio or the President of the United States.

If you have any questions relating to the Engineer’s response to the pandemic, please contact Frank Antenucci at (440) 279-1800, or fantenucci@co.geauga.oh.us.
