The Geauga County Dog Shelter is the place to go when you have lost your dog, found a dog, or are thinking of adopting a four-legged friend. They care for over 700 dogs each year and are always acquiring new dogs in every shape and size – dogs that are usually just looking for someone to love. The Shelter does its best to operate on the $8.50 they receive for each dog tag sold, but as you can imagine, that does not go very far. They receive no other county funding. Without the help of dedicated volunteers and donations from caring dog-loving friends, the shelter would not exist.
Consider a $25 per month cage sponsor gift and become a member of the Tail Waggers Club. You will have an open invitation to visit the Shelter and spend some time with your dog. This is a wonderful solution for those who want to be pet owners but cannot afford to do so, for those living under housing restrictions that do not allow dogs, or simply for those who love dogs and volunteering!
Currently the Shelter is in desperate need of canned dog food and laundry detergent and of course treats. Monday volunteers are also being sought. Please take a few minutes and bring these much needed items to the Shelter.
It is conveniently located DIRECTLY under the Geauga County Water Tower. If you are coming from Chardon Square, take Route 44 south. Go a few miles past the Mayfield Road (Route 322) intersection. Turn left on Merritt Road. The second driveway on the right hand side is the Shelter. Please stop by with your cans of food and laundry detergent as soon as possible! THANK YOU!
