Geauga Family YMCA Competes in Ohio YMCA Fit Blitz Challenge

Fit Blitz

Geauga Family YMCA is preparing to participate in the first annual Ohio YMCA Fit Blitz, a month-long fitness challenge in December.

More than 30 YMCAs throughout Ohio are expected to participate in the challenge, which was founded by leaders at the YMCA of Central Ohio in Columbus. The challenge will be open to both YMCA members and the public.

Challenge participants will commit to exercising 600, 1,200 or 2,400 minutes throughout the month of December and will track their workouts online with YTRAAK®, an exclusive digital tracking software created by the YMCA of Central Ohio.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adults should exercise 150 minutes per week, which equates to the 600 minute minimum goal for the challenge. YTRAAK® software is accessible through any mobile device or desktop and give participants opportunities to earn extra points for social media posts, pictures, notes and more.

YMCAs in Ohio will be divided into Northern and Southern halves to spark friendly competition to find out which counties can be the most active. Prize drawings will award selected participants who reach their challenge goals with the chance to win one of two Apple iPads or one of eight FitBit® Wristbands.

While the Fit Blitz Challenge will be promoted through local Ys across Ohio, participants do not need to be YMCA members or even residents of Ohio to participate. Registration is now open. Participants must be registered no later than December 10 to compete in the challenge.

Pricing for the Fit Blitz is:

$2.99 – Basic option to participate in challenge and track workouts with YTRAAK®
$29.99 – Plus option that includes basic items plus a specially designed Fit Blitz performance shirt

Visit the Ohio Fit Blitz website to register. When you register, be sure to join the Geauga Euclid Team.
