Kiwanis Maple Syrup Sales Begin

The Chardon Kiwanis is pleased to see the arrival of maple season in Northeast Ohio. There is no better time in Geauga County than maple season because of the wonderful events involving a sweet local product we have become accustomed to. The Kiwanis Club of Chardon is pleased to be part of this tradition.

On Saturday, March 2, twenty or so members and friends of Kiwanis Club of Chardon gathered at the kitchen of the Pilgrim Christian Church to can and bottle some of the sweet stuff produced at local sugarhouses. The syrup which was bottled will be sold at the Log Cabin.

The Log Cabin will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday starting March 9 and through each and every day of the Maple Festival. Those who stop by can expect to find all the maple syrup, maple barbeque and mustard, maple candy, maple spread, maple sugar, and various other sweets. One of the sweetest maple products, maple sugar cotton candy, will be returning for another year.

As in previous years, maple sales will be the primary fundraiser of the Chardon Kiwanis to support the scholarships that it awards to Chardon area students and various other projects that it sponsors each year.

“Being able to enjoy something sweet while helping area youth pursue their further education is a great way to celebrate our maple heritage,” said Jeff Campbell, Chairman of maple sales for 2013. “Please come out to the Log Cabin to purchase something and support our area students.”

We encourage everyone who is looking for a sweet treat to enjoy for themselves, or to purchase as a gift, to stop by the Log Cabin before or during the Maple Festival. In addition to the sweets offered by The Chardon Kiwanis in the Log Cabin, the Sugarhouse and Stir Booth will be open every Sunday for visitors to enjoy prior to the festival from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.. If you would like to learn more about the activities of Kiwanis, please visit the website or call the Chardon club at 440-537-7316.
