On Friday, May 16, 2014, Lenore Pikus, Deputy Administrative Assistant to Burton Village Mayor Nick Fischbach, delivered a proclamation at Burton Health Care Center declaring May 11 – May 17, 2014 National Nursing Home Week.
The proclamation recognized the citizens residing in Burton Health Care Center as members of our community who have contributed immeasurably to its heritage, success, and growth. Mayor Fischbach’s proclamation also urged everyone in the community to visit their family and friends currently residing in a skilled nursing facility to show their gratitude for all they have given to society. The proclamation highlights the understanding that the residents at any age and ability are living history and are valued and loved.
The Burton Health Care Center residents enjoyed other events throughout the week including a Mother’s Day party and daily live entertainment with refreshments. The staff got into the spirit of the week and were encouraged to dress in 70s, 80s, and country western attire. They were also treated to games, prizes, a hot dog bar, and ice cream sundaes.
National Nursing Home Week is a week that residents and staff look forward to each year. It is a time to promote the relationships between the nursing home residents, their families, and the staff.
