Newbury Post 663 Hosts Memorial Day Service, Parade, Cookout

The Newbury Legion Post 663 and its Commander Ken Hunter will host Memorial Day Services Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Newbury School Auditorium. This indoor program will honor our veterans past and present. Everyone is welcome to attend this memorial service. Let’s support our current veterans and remember the many who gave their all for the freedoms we enjoy today.

Our featured speaker will be Pastor Joe Bohanon. Pastor Joe is a veteran of the Marine Corp. with a tour of duty in Vietnam, a veteran of the Navy Reserves and the Ohio National Guard. His military career spans a period from 1963 to 1997. He now is affiliated with the Church of Troy, Sunshine Ministries, and volunteers at Burton Health Care and Rehabilitation Center providing spiritual comfort and guidance.

8:30 am – South Newbury Cemetery Services

9:00 am – Munn Cemetery Services

10:30 am – Indoor Memorial Day Service at the Newbury School Auditorium

11:15-11:30 am – Parade Formation at School

11:30 am – Parade to Newbury Center Cemetery

12 Noon – Newbury Center Cemetery Service

12:30 pm – Ground breaking at Newbury Veterans Memorial Park, southwest corner of Auburn Rd. & Rt. 87

1:00 pm – Disperse and go to Legion Hall for complimentary cookout, all are invited.

The Grand Marshal for the parade will be Mr. Dean Eppley. All groups, clubs, etc., are welcome to participate in the parade. Groups with minors must have adult supervision. This program is planned for the benefit of Newbury and surrounding communities. All veterans are welcome to participate in the program and parade-with or without uniform.
