SUMMARY:Silver Bells Holiday Concert with Olympic Brass
DESCRIPTION:Olympic Brass\, one of the Cleveland area’s finest brass quintets\, returns to Chardon for its sixth annual “Silver Bells” concert on Friday\, December 20th. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Celebration Lutheran Church\, 10621 Auburn Rd.\, Chardon\, OH 44024. Carols\, classics and a sing-along make this a joyous event for the whole family. The church is handicap-accessible with free on-site parking. There is no admission charge; a freewill offering will be taken. For more information about the concert call Greg Hillis at 440-645-5726. \nThe members of Olympic Brass are all top pros from the Cleveland area – Amanda Bekeny and Eric Dina\, trumpets; Greg Hillis\, horn; Eric Rowles\, trombone; and J.c. Sherman\, tuba. Devin Roark will be substituting on trombone for this concert. The group uses a wide array of historical and unique instruments and many of the arrangements they play are written by members of the group. This year’s concert will feature new arrangements of “Go Tell it on the Mountain” and “This Christmas\,” music from the Charlie Brown and Grinch animated Christmas specials\, and other traditional and familiar holiday favorites.

SUMMARY:Ring in the Holidays with the Lake Effect Concert Band
DESCRIPTION:The Lake Effect Concert Band\, under the direction of Greg Hillis\, will present its popular “Holiday Pops” concert on Saturday\, December 7th. The concert begins at 3:00 p.m. at Harvey High School\, 200 W. Walnut St.\, Painesville\, OH 44077 and will last approximately one hour. The performance is family-friendly and free of charge; donations are always appreciated. The auditorium is handicap-accessible and there is free on-site parking. For more information about the band and a schedule of other upcoming concerts and events\, visit www.snowbeltmusical.org\, email snowbeltmusical@gmail.com\, or call 440-296-9610. \nIn this second concert of its 2019-2020 season\, the band will perform a potpourri of holiday favorites\, including traditional carols\, popular songs\, and selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker ballet. Vocalist Lindsey Sandham Leonard returns to sing several selections with the band\, including the Carpenter’s Merry Christmas\, Darling\, and to lead the audience in a very merry sing along. \nVersatile soprano\, Lindsey Sandham Leonard is equally at home singing opera\, Broadway musicals\, and popular songs of the Great American Songbook. A veteran of stages across Northeast Ohio\, she has performed with the Akron Symphony\, Cleveland Opera Theatre\, The Beck Center\, Cain Park\, Rabbit Run Theater\, and Lakeland Theatre. Ms. Leonard received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music and her Master of Music degree from Kent State University. \nThe Lake Effect Concert Band is a 65 member community-based adult ensemble that performs under the sponsorship of the Snowbelt Musical Arts Association (SMAA). SUMMARY:Lake Effect and Polar Vortex Bands in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join the Lake Effect Concert Band and Polar Vortex big band as they team up for this family-friendly afternoon of classics and favorites. Highlights of the Lake Effect portion of the concert include Chorale and Shaker Dance\, based on “Simple Gifts”; Charles Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette\, well-known theme from the Alfred Hitchcock Show; and a medley of songs from the classic film “The Wizard of Oz” in celebration of its 80th anniversary. Featured soloist will be Erika Lance\, flute. \nPolar Vortex will be swingin’ with hits including Duke Ellington’s Satin Doll and Count Basie’s April In Paris. Vocalist Katie Borton will be featured on the Nat King Cole favorite Orange Colored Sky and Lerner and Loewe’s Almost Like Being In Love.
