SUMMARY:Miles for Mental Health & Wellness Walk and Symposium
DESCRIPTION:On September 9th\, 2017\, NAMI Geauga will be hosting the Miles for Mental Health & Wellness Walk and Symposium in Burton\, Ohio. Previously\, NAMI Geauga has held the Miles for Mental Health Walk in order to raise funds for community programs here in Geauga County. This year\, we’re expanding the event and incorporating a wellness symposium featuring local health experts\, businesses\, and agencies. \nNAMI Geauga will highlight 8 Whole Health and Wellness life skills necessary for success. Event workshops and activities will be held throughout the morning that promote healthy living\, followed by our annual fundraising Walk from Berkshire High School through historic Burton\, Ohio. Register online at: NAMI Geauga Miles for Mental Health & Wellness Walk. Your passport to Wellnesses begins at 9:00 am at Berkshire High School in Burton\, Ohio\, followed by our Walk at Noon! \nThe day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Health & Wellness Symposium where attendees will have the opportunity to speak with local businesses and health experts\, partake in health related activities like depression screenings\, and join group workshops where they’ll have the chance to learn valuable skills. At noon\, the symposium will come to an end\, and attendees will take a short lunch while listening to special guest speaker Loree Vick (former Fox 8 Anchor). DESCRIPTION:Presenting NAMI Geauga County’s Quarterly Speaker Meeting: Dennis Michelson will discuss the topic of “Dual Diagnosis and Treatment”. \nDr. Michelson will speak on the subject of Dual Diagnosis issues and breakthrough treatments. He regularly consults with the court systems in cases where treatment is considered as an alternative to prolonged incarceration. Dr. Farshid Asfarisard will also be with us to speak on the issue of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as one of the newer and most effective treatments for dual diagnosis patients. \n\nDennis Michelson is the Director of Counseling for Fadul Health Partners and also the Treatment Coordinator for the Lake County Drug Court. He is the director of Advanced Clinical Consultants in Chardon\, a therapist with Premier Behavioral Health Services in Mentor\, maintains a private practice in Chardon and specializes in dual diagnosis cases and court-mandated evaluations.\n\nPlease join us at the Notre Dame Education Center 13000 Auburn Rd.\, Chardon\, Ohio. \nPlease RSVP 440-286-6264 or email kbidlack@namigeauga.org to reserve your seat and for light refreshments.
