SUMMARY:Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities to Hold 13th Annual Metzenbaum Center Golf Outing
DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with Maple Leaf Community Residences\, the Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) will host its 13th Annual Metzenbaum Center Golf Outing on Saturday\, June 23rd\, at the Wicked Woods Golf Course in Newbury\, Ohio beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Maple Leaf Community Residences helps to organize this event and is currently looking for sponsors in support of the cause. \n“The golf outing is one of the most important and popular events of the year\, as proceeds from the event are used to support the Metzenbaum Center\,” said Superintendent Don Rice. “We can assure every participant that the day will include plenty of opportunities for fun\, food and golfing all while supporting a meaningful cause.” \nIn the past\, the event has included a 50/50 raffle\, a hole-in-one contest\, a drawing for door prizes and competition holes for golfers. Sponsorships are available and must be secured by June 4th. The following sponsorships are available: \n\nHole Sponsorship: $600 – includes hole signage flag\, recognition in the program\, golf\, carts and dinner for four\nCompetitive Sponsorship: $300 – donation will be used to purchase advertisement\, the winning gift and several other gifts for competition hole winners\nBeverage Sponsorship: $300 – includes recognition in the program and donation will be used to purchase event beverages\nFlag Sponsorship: $200 – includes hole signage and recognition in the program\n\nFor golfers\, registration is $100 per athlete and includes golf\, cart\, dinner and eligibility for prizes. If you are an individual golfer and do not have a group of four\, you will be matched with other golfers to create a four-person team. For dinner only\, the cost is $40 per person. SUMMARY:Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities to Host Fourth Annual Metzenbaum Run for Fun 5K
DESCRIPTION:The Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) is hosting its fourth annual Metzenbaum Run for Fun 5K on Sunday\, May 20th at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds raised by the event will benefit local individuals with developmental disabilities. \n“The 5K run for fun is something we now look forward to every year\,” said Superintendent Don Rice. “All proceeds from this family-friendly event will benefit individuals who are unable to afford recreational activities\, so it’s a great way to help others while having fun. I encourage everyone who is able to sign up to participate.” \nThose who sign up for the event can participate in either a one-mile walk or a five-mile run. Packet pick-up will be on Saturday\, May 19th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the GCBDD\, located at 8200 Cedar Road\, Chesterland. Same-day registration will also be available from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on May 19th. Those who are interested can register now at Greater XC Cleveland. \n“People in the community had a great time at this event last year\,” Rice said. “It is wonderful that we have the opportunity to host the 5K again this year\, which raises awareness of the Board’s dedication to the individuals we serve. SUMMARY:Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities Hosts Community ‘Lab Night’
DESCRIPTION:The Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) will be hosting a free Lab Night for all community members on April 13th from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Metzenbaum Center\, located at 8200 Cedar Road\, Chesterland. \nAttendees will have the opportunity to visit GCBDD’s science lab to complete science experiments involving static\, electricity\, wind and water and many more. Participants will even have the opportunity to take a few of the experiments home. \nIn addition to the hands-on science experiments\, there will also be demonstrations and an opportunity to visit the Geauga Park District’s portable planetarium. The portable planetarium is by ticket only.
