Ryan Heating & Cooling got started in the garage of President Ryan Johnson’s home. Marketing/Warehouse Manager Jason Harris talked about the company. “We have five technicians in the field and three of us that work here in the office. So we don’t have a big team, but we are still family run and operated.” About 70 percent of calls are service oriented in nature and 30 percent of calls are sales oriented.
Ryan HCP will take care of all your home comfort needs, like furnace and air conditioning installation, repair, and maintenance. “We are located in Madison, Ohio and service Ashtabula, Lake, and Geauga Counties as well as the surrounding areas. We perform air conditioning and heating services of all brands.
“Ryan Heating & Cooling Inc. receives satisfaction knowing that you and your family enjoy comfort as well as safety with our quality equipment and service for over 17 years. Our customers appreciate our fair pricing and quality work. We pride ourselves with our 24-hour emergency service that you can depend on. Also available to our customers is our 24-hour answering service, so your call will be taken in real time with a live dispatcher.
“The integrity of our materials and workmanship will never be compromised to cut cost or corners at Ryan Heating & Cooling Inc. We treat your home as we would treat our own homes. Our brands carry excellent warranties and we stand behind our guarantees 100%!
“Additionally, we offer the best maintenance program available to keep your equipment as efficient as possible. Our service technicians will always leave your home as we found it, neat and clean. We are proud of our service team and their integrity. To ensure we are sending professionals to your home, our policy for all employees requires a background and drug-screening test.”
Harris explained, “Ryan’s passion is the customer. Our biggest satisfaction is helping people get what they need.” Heating and cooling needs in the greater Cleveland area can be complex due to the irregular weather residents face on a regular basis. “When it’s ten degrees outside, our goal is to satisfy our customers in a timely fashion and a clean, efficient manner. Our customers are our top priority. Without them we wouldn’t be where we are today.”
They also express their passion for their customers by their support in the community. Harris gave a snapshot of all of their community efforts. “We support all our local Chamber of Commerce groups. We offer senior discounts to residents. We also are involved with local police and fire departments and help support any charities or initiatives they are promoting. We are also involved with local athletic boosters and similar organizations. [Sic-Lastly,] we stay available 24-7, for customers. You never get an answering machine which is nice.”
Ryan Heating & Cooling also offers free estimates to their customers. Commitment to the community and excellence of service help Ryan Heating & Cooling stand apart from the rest of the competition.
They have also found success when they work with a customer for the first time. Harris said, “Once we get into their house, 99 percent of them [customers] tend to really like our company.” He credited the Ryan Heating & Cooling team for that. “We have some great office staff. Our main scheduler is a true people person. She loves helping people! She’s good at what she does and really cares about our customers.”
As far as marketing goes, Ryan Heating & Cooling sticks local. He addressed their marketing challenges. “Marketing in slow times when we aren’t busy [sic] [can be difficult]. It’s hard to spend money to put into marketing when calls aren’t coming in. We’ve got a pretty good plan in place as far as what we do working with a small budget. We do not have a large marketing budget, it’s just not there.”
He advised prospective new business owners to prepare for the good and the bad times. “Times are going to be tough and times are going to be good, especially in this business. You have to learn to take the good with the bad. Our business is very seasonal. Basically, when business is good, save and be responsible with your profits and staff during that time for when business is slow.” He added, “Just stick with it and make sure you are happy. A happy customer is your best advertisement. That’s our main goal, to keep our customers happy.”
