Popular quarterly food program will feature fifth-generation family farm

Meet Bob Sage of Sage’s Apples, a fifth-generation family fruit and vegetable farm and farm market in Chardon, for a discussion of the history of the Sages’ agricultural work in the region.

What: Food: What Do Farms Have to Do With It?

When: Thursday, August 8 – 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Where: The West Woods Nature Center
9465 Kinsman Road (Route 87), Russell Township

Evening topics will include the Sages’ work with The Ohio State University and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center as well as their success in raising the best-tasting and highest-quality kind of locally grown produce: apples, red raspberries, blueberries, peaches, sweet corn, green beans, plums, nectarines, zucchini, beets and tomatoes.

For those who attend, chairs will be set up in the round to encourage discussion and keep the atmosphere informal. Sharing of local foods is welcome. Registration is not required for this program, which is wheelchair/stroller accessible. Call 440-286-9516 with questions.
