DESCRIPTION:The Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) is hosting its fourth annual Metzenbaum Run for Fun 5K on Sunday\, May 20th at 8:00 a.m. All proceeds raised by the event will benefit local individuals with developmental disabilities. \n“The 5K run for fun is something we now look forward to every year\,” said Superintendent Don Rice. “All proceeds from this family-friendly event will benefit individuals who are unable to afford recreational activities\, so it’s a great way to help others while having fun. I encourage everyone who is able to sign up to participate.” \nThose who sign up for the event can participate in either a one-mile walk or a five-mile run. Packet pick-up will be on Saturday\, May 19th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the GCBDD\, located at 8200 Cedar Road\, Chesterland. Same-day registration will also be available from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on May 19th. Those who are interested can register now at Greater XC Cleveland. \n“People in the community had a great time at this event last year\,” Rice said. “It is wonderful that we have the opportunity to host the 5K again this year\, which raises awareness of the Board’s dedication to the individuals we serve. DESCRIPTION:The Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) will be hosting a free Lab Night for all community members on April 13th from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Metzenbaum Center\, located at 8200 Cedar Road\, Chesterland. \nAttendees will have the opportunity to visit GCBDD’s science lab to complete science experiments involving static\, electricity\, wind and water and many more. Participants will even have the opportunity to take a few of the experiments home. \nIn addition to the hands-on science experiments\, there will also be demonstrations and an opportunity to visit the Geauga Park District’s portable planetarium. The portable planetarium is by ticket only. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month\, the Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) invites community members to its free community carnival on March 3rd\, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Metzenbaum Center. The Metzenbaum Center is located at 8200 Cedar Road in Chesterland. \nThis is the third year of the annual carnival. GCBDD provides free food\, games and prizes. \n“We encourage community members to come out and enjoy this free event\,” said GCBDD Superintendent Don Rice. “It is sure to be a fun event for the whole family.” \nFood options include hot dogs\, chips\, cookies and drinks. Carnival favorites such as popcorn\, cotton candy and snow cones will also be available. \nThere will be over 40 different games available for community members to play\, including traditional carnival games like darts\, balloon break and the milk bottle knock down. With some luck\, participants will receive tickets for the games they win\, which they can exchange for a prize of their choice. \n“Last year\, we had 530 community members attend the carnival. We hope to build upon this success with this year’s event\,” said Rice. “The carnival provides us an opportunity to celebrate Developmental Disabilities Awareness month and continue to promote our goal of helping individuals live\, earn and learn in their own community.” \nGCBDD is in need of volunteers to help facilitate event. All proceeds benefit the individuals served by the Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD). \nA pancake breakfast will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.\, and a hot lunch\, refreshments and Amish baked goods will also be available. \nItems in the silent auction will include handmade wreaths\, chests\, Amish rockers\, handcrafted toys\, items from local businesses and over 25 handmade quilts. \nThere will also be a “holiday shop\,” a cash and carry gift shop for people who would prefer not to participate in the auction. \nFree parking outside of the Metzenbaum Center and a shuttle service that will transport people to and from the parking lot will be available.

The garage sale will include gently used items from the Board and community donations. DESCRIPTION:The Geauga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (GCBDD) is hosting a Community Carnival on Saturday\, March 4th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Carnival is an entirely free event and everyone in the community is welcome to attend. \nThe carnival is part of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month\, which is celebrated throughout the month of March. During the carnival\, attendees can enjoy free food\, games and the chance to win prizes. \nVolunteers are still needed for the event.
