DESCRIPTION:It’s so thrilling to find an insect you’ve never seen before. One sweep of the net can reveal amazing insects that are more often heard than seen. What will you find? \n  \nCatch up with this season’s stunning Monarch butterflies and more during Monarchs & Meadow Insects – at Frohring Meadows on Sunday\, September 11\, and at Orchard Hills Park on Sunday\, September 18\, both 12:30 to 4 p.m. \n  \nTogether you and your friends or family are invited to use our nets to catch a variety of butterflies\, grasshoppers\, praying mantids\, katydids\, beetles and other meadow insects. Join in at any time without registration. You may also bring your own net\, if you’d rather. We recommend wearing sun protection\, socks\, hats and long pants for moving through the meadow. \n  \nPlus\, should you catch a Monarch\, a naturalist will be on hand to tag and release it. DESCRIPTION:New celebration of autumn includes return of horse-drawn wagon rides in the park \nBrisk air\, changing colors\, spooky silhouettes\, costumes\, wagon rides and cider – Geauga Park District’s new\, free Fall Fest will have all this and more for the whole family to enjoy. \n \nWhat: Fall Fest \nWhen: Friday & Saturday\nOctober 10 & 11 – 5 to 9 p.m. \nWhere: Frohring Meadows\,\n16780 Savage Road\, Bainbridge Township \nFirst-come\, first-served horse-drawn wagon rides are one of the most exciting features as they haven’t been offered in the parks in almost a decade. Clydesdales Brutus and Rosebud will take you around the paved trail\, clip clop\, clip clop\, while a naturalist shares all the signs of the season. Go right to the ticket booth when you arrive to get your name in for a designated time. \nEven those who don’t ride will have no problem keeping busy with hands-on activity stations (including make-and-take slime)\, a puppet show for the little ones\, a corn box (like a sandbox\, but filled with corn kernels)\, hiking\, sack racing\, face painting\, a campfire\, s’mores\, popcorn\, cider and more! \nThen at 8 p.m. please join naturalists for a night hike into the woods\, where you’ll let your eyes adjust and then delve into the darkness unaided by a flashlight. (Don’t be scared; trust us\, it works.) \nTo make sure you don’t miss your favorite fall happenings\, please view the detailed schedule . \nRegistration is not required. Simply call 440-286-9516 in advance if you have questions. \nPsst…! If the Frohring lot fills and you’re redirected to the overflow parking at the Army National Guard armory (7600 Washington St.)\, there will be a shuttle available 5:30-9:30 p.m. But consider this: you could also HIKE to Fall Fest! The wooded trail is about 1.5 miles. A sign will be posted at the hike’s entrance\, just beyond the old baseball field at the armory.
