SUMMARY:The Crucible
DESCRIPTION:The Teen Drama Project\, founded by Angela Miloro-Hansen and Chris Cipriani in 2010\, is entering is fifth year with a production of The Crucible. Twenty cast members between 10-20 years of age come together to bring this weighty production to life. \nThe Crucible by Arthur Miller is an account of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 in Salem\, Massachusetts. Teenagers in the town began the hysteria\, claiming to be “afflicted” by others in the town. The girls claimed the accused sent their spirits on them\, attacking them and possessing them. \nSalem was quick to arrest all those accused\, and in less than a year\, over 100 people were tried and as a result\, 24 died. This included not only women\, but children\, and two accused dogs. \nThe cast has been hard at work at coming to an understanding of what caused the hysteria of what are believed to be innocent victims. In addition to tackling intense and difficult dialogue and the Puritan dialect\, they have assembled a memorial to those executed that will be on display in the lobby. Details of the lives of each person as well as displays on what the Puritan standards for witchcraft were—you’ll be surprised just how many people today would be instantly accused! \nThe Crucible runs for three nights only: May 30 at 7:30\, May 31 at 7:30\, and June 1 at 2:00. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased through the website or by calling the box office at (440) 286-2255. Box Office hours are Wednesday\, Thursday and Friday 4 pm to 7 pm and Saturday 1pm to 5 pm. \nThe historic Geauga Theater is located on beautiful Chardon Square at 101 Water Street\, Chardon\, Ohio. For more information visit\, go online. \nPhoto detail: \nMary Warren (Janna Klein) and Abigail Williams (Kelly Tapager) trade secrets in the woods
