SUMMARY:Howwwwwl’oween Hound Hike
DESCRIPTION:Hike Sunnybrook Preserve with your hound…in costume!\nDevil or angel\, pumpkin or scarecrow\, human or canine\, come enjoy this hike with your favorite four-legged friend. Nature lovers and good-natured dogs always look forward to Geauga Park District’s last Hound Hike of the season. Needless to say\, costumes (dogs or human) make it all the more fun! \nFrom April through October\, monthly Hound Hikes allow dog owners an opportunity to bond and enjoy a type of entertainment their canines can also enjoy. Registration is always required to keep numbers manageable online or 440-286-9516. \n“We start off every walk with everyone introducing themselves and their dogs and how old their dogs are\,” said Eileen Smith\, the Park District’s administrative services coordinator\, who enlists a family member to help her bring two German Shorthair Pointers\, Heineken and Smitty. “That provides conversation along the trail because everyone walks at his or her own pace.” \nKids often come along for the walks\, too. “They really bond over their dogs\,” Eileen said\, “Some Hound Hikers get together to walk in the parks at other times.” \nOne non-aggressive dog is allowed per handler\, who must be able to fully control his or her dog at all times on a leash no longer than eight feet. Participants must also bring their own dog towels\, water bowls\, poop scoops and bags for clean-up. If altercations or incidents occur\, problematic dogs will be asked to leave. Activities will not be wheelchair / stroller accessible. \nAgain\, registration is required for this free outdoor program\, great for all ages and all breeds of dog\, online or by calling 440-286-9516. \nGeauga Park District is online\, Facebook\, Twitter and YouTube.
