The Chardon Square Association is proud to announce the return of the Wellness Walk and Community Health Day for another year. The event will take place on the beautiful historic Chardon Square to provide local residents the opportunity to walk, stretch, learn, and celebrate healthy living. The Chardon Square Association, University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center, Jasmine Dragons, and the Mandala Center are sponsoring this year’s event.
The second annual Wellness Walk and Community Health Day will take place on July 28, starting at 9:30 a.m. and ending around noon. Returning for another year will be simple yoga instruction and the 4,658-step walk, starting from the Square, running through town and part of the Maple Highland Trial. In addition, this year’s event will include stretching, blood pressure tests provided by University Hospitals, CPR demonstrations, chair and reflexology massages, and a lecture about general wellness and healthy living by Gina Marie McKee.
Once all activities conclude, special healthy lunches are being offered by local Main Street restaurants for purchase by participants. Lunches may be enjoyed at each establishment, or the green will be open for a nice picnic in the park.
The Wellness Walk and Community Health Day grew out of a desire to educate local residents about living a healthier life style,” said co-chairman of the Wellness Walk and Community Health Day and President of the Chardon Square Association, Tom Bryant. “While the inaugural year of this event was a great start, this year will be even more educational and fun for those who participate.”
Everyone is encouraged to attend this annual event, learn about living a healthier life style, and have a little fun while doing so. No pre-registration is required for any of the activities, and free pedometers will be provided to participants thanks to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Campus.
