Winter Tree ID – From fruits to twigs and bark, learn to tell trees apart

Trees can be tougher to identify in the cold-weather months, once so many leaves have gently fallen to the ground. Learn the tricks of the naturalist trade during this Winter Tree ID program in the scenic West Woods.

What: Winter Tree ID
When: Saturday, November 19th – 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Where: The West Woods Nature Center, 9465 Kinsman Road (Rt. 87), Russell Twp.

Registration is required to attend this helpful program, co-presented with the Native Plant Society of Northeastern Ohio, at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org or 440-286-9516.

Indoor instruction, featuring a display of leaves, fruits and twigs, will be followed by an outdoor hike where we’ll cover wood uses. The Master Tree Finder booklet will be our handy guide; buy one for $6.00 in the Tree Tops Nature Store or borrow from the parks’ limited quantity.
