The Board of Supervisors of the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) would like to cordially invite the public to help celebrate their 76th anniversary in conservation while also voting for the next Board Supervisor. The Annual Election and Open House is 9:00 am – noon on Saturday, October 17th at the Natural Resource Area on the Geauga County Fairgrounds (14373 N. Cheshire Road, Burton, Ohio 44021). Candidates include Robert Lausin and Beth McCaffrey.
Robert Lausin
Robert Lausin lives in Thompson with his wife Cindy of 37 years and currently grain and hay farms the family properties. Bob has lived in Thompson his entire life except for four years of U.S. Navy service. They have three grown sons. Bob served on the Geauga SWCD Board of Supervisors from 1992-1994 and 2001- 2006. He is a graduate of Ledgemont High School and served as a 4-H advisor for the Thompson-Ledge Dairymen for 19 years. He is also a member of the AMVET Post #1968. His conservation interests include farmland preservation and composting.
Beth McCaffrey 
Beth McCaffrey joined Geauga SWCD’s Board of Supervisors in 2019 and is currently serving as the Vice Chair. She is a lifelong Geauga County resident and currently lives with her husband Tom in Montville Township. Beth is employed by Berkshire Local Schools as Chief Financial Officer. Beth has served as Treasurer for the Geauga Historical Society and on the Geauga Credit Union Board of Directors. Both her and Tom are avid bikers and enjoy the Maple Highland Trail daily. She loves to garden and is a self- proclaimed “foodie.” Beth is committed to protecting Geauga County resources and to maintaining its rural lifestyle.
All voters must be at least 18 years of age the day of the election and must reside or own land within Geauga County. Anyone wishing to vote who cannot attend the Open House may do so by stopping by the Geauga SWCD office (14269 Claridon-Troy Road, Burton, Ohio 44021) during business hours or by making a request for an absentee voting ballot by calling 440-834-1122 or emailing clair@geaugaswcd.com. All completed ballots must be received by October 17, 2020.
