There will be dancing and singing felines in Chardon as Geauga Lyric Theater Guild presents the musical CATS. “This show is designed purely to entertain. It is a family friendly show that is great for small children, while containing a story-line provided through the poetry of T.S. Elliot that is clear enough to keep an adult’s attention,” observes director Lisa-Marie French. “The score, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, is filled with a variety of song styles to suit the many personalities of the various cats, with a little something for everyone.”
CATS, which opens at Geauga Theater on April 19, is famous for lovely and innovative music, dance, costumes, and makeup. This show has won numerous awards since it first opened in London’s West End in 1981.
“The cast is multi-talented. Mix strong dancers with strong singers and strong actors and the result is something very unexpected for a community theater stage.”
Ms. French added, “The cast is multi-talented. Mix strong dancers with strong singers and strong actors and the result is something very unexpected for a community theater stage. A dynamic show that shines on all three fronts. CATS is a choreographers dream come true. A completely music-filled musical designed for classical ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theater dance styles.”
Young kittens can get in on the act by attending a “CATS” themed event Saturday, April 27, beginning at 11:00 a.m..
