Geauga County Public Library (GCPL) is introducing a new library card design that features a one-color version of the system’s recently adopted logo. GCPL replaced the old design with an updated, clean look that reflects the new communications image. The logo, a welcoming book with emerging pixels, signifies the importance of print and electronic accessibility to library materials.
The new card’s design is on a palette of blue waves and includes the website address where users can easily access the catalog, information about library locations, hours, news and links to social media resources. The new card design will be available this summer.
“Our new logo has been in use for the past year,” says Director Deborah F. O’Connor, “and as we phase out the old cards with the previous logo, we’re continuing to present a unified look and feel on our marketing materials. People carry their library cards in their wallets and purses for years. These cards are like mini billboards that people view countless times. It made sense to update our image to be consistent with our cohesive marketing appearance. Plus, more and more residents are requesting library cards to facilitate their use of the library’s many online resources.”
